A renovated home in Foro Bonaparte in Milan by Isacco Brioschi Architects, a balance between contemporary and history.
The intervention by Isacco Brioschi Architects communicates with the elegant spaces of an early nineteenth century home, respecting and enhancing the pre-existing aesthetics, giving new life to the historical elements with a new spatial distribution, recontextualizing a refined residence in the historic center in the present. Some of the original elements were brought to light and emphasized through careful redevelopment and selective demolition. To preserve these traits of the past and integrate them in the space was one of the objectives of the restyling. Custom plaster on the vaulted ceiling and grand historic doorways were maintained in total white while the walls were painted in a pale pearl grey shade.
In the bright living area, elected the fulcrum of the house, the original walls were opened creating a large open-space concept to include the living room, dining area and kitchen, the latter cleverly hidden thanks to the trick of a wardrobe which becomes an internal brass greenhouse with bronze ribbed glass, customized with a precious forest green marble floor and wall coverings.
